The new business, called Cranking E-Bikes, is the brainchild of Robert Thompson - a cycling enthusiast and former IT professional in London’s financial sector - and will operate from 43.2 sq m (464 sq ft) retail premises at 1 Cobblestone Yard, Bath Row in Stamford.
The company was only established in November last year (2019) and while keen to begin trading as soon as possible to capitalise on this fast growing vehicle sector, Robert Thompson admits that he found the ideal premises sooner than he expected.
He explained, “While I am from Stamford, there was a solid business reason for wanting the showroom in the town too.
“E-bikes are high value vehicles and Stamford and its surrounding villages have an affluent demographic profile and so that had to be my starting point in seeking a suitable location for the dealership.
“Then I saw that 1 Cobblestone Yard was being offered to let with a brand new lease. It just ticked all the right boxes for the business. It’s a cute building, located in the right commercial setting down by the river. Perfect for taking Cranking E-Bikes for test rides.
“Further down the line, my business plans include e-cycle rental too so to be beside a river route out to the surrounding countryside is ideal.
“Furthermore, the Cobblestone Yard layout and setting provides additional peace of mind for security when trading in such premium products as electric cycles.”
