The Roxhill Gateway development at Peterborough opened to the public on 24th February with DPD being handed keys to its new facility.

Gateway, which comprises around 240 acres, is Peterborough's prime distribution park located directly on the A1(M) at its junction with the A1139 and has planning consent for up to 5 million square feet of space and can accommodate single buildings up to 1.3 million square feet.

DPD Chief Executive Dwain McDonald said "location and access are key issues for us and relocating to Gateway gives us all those benefits and the space to create a modern, purpose built parcel depot."

Yearsley Group have also acquired around 20 acres for its own development and Managing Director Harry Yearsley said "the frozen industry has and will continue to move to shorter lead times.  Our strategy to embrace this is to invest in Superhubs in strategic locations.  The Gateway Peterborough site is the ideal location given its proximity to the A1 and A14.  The support we have received from Roxhill has enabled us to obtain planning permission for exactly the type of building that is required to maintain our industry leading position and we are extremely pleased with the outcome."

Steve Hawkins of agents Barker Storey Matthews comments "everything is now ready to go and we are able to offer occupiers the opportunity to acquire prime high specification buildings in an outstanding location.  Our clients can deliver tailor made solutions and aim to reach BREEAM excellent standards providing quality, sustainable facilities from 100,000 sq ft."
