The appeal of industrial units at The Lakes Business Park in St Ives, Cambridgeshire has endured as each of phase business lockdown eases, with limited availability at the newest of its schemes - Oak Court and Chestnut Court - now that the autumn market is activated.

That is the view of Barker Storey Matthews (now part of Eddisons), whose Huntingdon office has sole agency of brand new, light industrial units for sale or to let at the latest phase of The Lakes Business Park’s expansion.

The Lakes Business Park, St Ives is a prominent roadside location, adjacent to the former A14 (now designated as local road, the A1307, between Cambridge and Godmanchester), to the south of the market town of St Ives.

The business park is well positioned for nearby access to the new A14 and onward access to the national road networks of the A1 and A1(M) and M11.

The agent reports that the vast majority of the deals underway ahead of the business lockdown in the spring progressed to completion over the summer and that the development has retained its appeal to local industrial occupiers.

Six of the seven units at Oak Court are now sold and, at Chestnut Court, four of seven units are sold, with two further units under offer and one unit remaining.

The newest occupiers join an established band of businesses at The Lakes Business Park, including Cambridgeshire Bathrooms, Vindis Bentley and Cambridgeshire Constabulary.

Richard Adam, Director, Barker Storey Matthews, leads the agency at The Lakes Business Park and believes that the roll call of the latest occupiers at Chestnut Court and Oak Court demonstrates the resilience of the industrial market in the Huntingdon, St Ives and St Neots areas.

He explained, “The mix of tenants and owner occupiers is a who’s who of successful operators with ongoing requirements in the light industrial sector in the district.

“Owner occupiers include a local businessman who runs a packaging business and another who has bought a new unit to accommodate the expansion of a family-run tile supply business.

“A new tenant at Chestnut Court supplies high quality products to the professional automotive trade. While the newest tenant at Oak Court supplies technical equipment to the building sector.”

Richard Adam also confirmed that the developers of The Lakes Business Park are planning a further phase of light industrial units within the existing site next year (2021).
