The building's owners, Finchdean Investments Ltd, instructed Barker Storey Matthews' Huntingdon office to market the building in early December 2014 at an asking price of £1.25 million or an annual rental of £150,000 per annum. Terms for the sale of the building were agreed with Mick George shortly after the property came to the market with the sale being completed in mid-April 2015.
Alan Matthews of Barker Storey Matthews, who acted for Finchdean investments, commented, "We are seeing a resurgence in the demand for larger office buildings with the SI1 and SI2 office building in St Ives also being sold last year. We have also agreed the sale of several small office buildings in recent months and occupiers are aware that second hand office buildings can offer excellent value for money. the availability of freehold properties is diminishing quite rapidly and we expect this trend to continue as the economy improves."
Mick George added, "We have been looking for an office building for some time to cater for our rapidly growing Head Office workforce and we are pleased to have completed Unit 4 Lancaster Way. Over the last 12 months we have recruited more than 100 people in to new roles and we still have positions available at all levels of the organisation from Head Office to jobs in operational sites across Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Peterborough."
