The 0.75 Acre site had previously had planning permission for a housing development and had been under offer to a Housing Association, in conjunction with land owned by another party to the rear of the Cherry Tree pub. Plans for the development of the site have previosuly been well documented in the local press and met a good degree of local opposition, as residents feared that the pub would be lost as a result of any future development.
The site has, however, now been sold to the current occupier, who it is believed intends to continue running his existing operation from the site.
Julian Welch, Director of Barker Storey Matthews comments "we are pleased to have finally disposed of this property on behalf of the owners. There were a number of false starts, particularly when it became entwined with the larger development planned for land behind the Cherry Tree. Ultimately our clients are happy that the existing occupier will be able to continue operating from the site".
