Barker Storey Matthews, Peterborough's leading independent commercial property advisors, have been instructed to market prime retail premises at 23 Long Causeway in Peterborough.

French Connection who have occupied the premises for over 20 years have decided not to renew their lease, and will no longer have a stand-alone store in Peterborough, although they will continue to sell products within John Lewis.

Julian Welch, Director at Barker Storey Matthews who is dealing with the property commented "it is clearly disappointing to see the decision from French Connection to close this store after trading from the site for many years. The landlord did try to agree terms with them to renew their lease, offering a very competitive rental deal to try and entice them to stay, but in the end the tenant took the view that the site was just not viable for them".

He added "23 Long Causeway represents the only large unit available outside of the Queensgate Centre, offering over 3,400 sq ft of sale space. It is in a very prominent position opposite the entrance to the Queensgate, Pret a Manger and Boots, and next door to Sports Direct and Toni & Guy. The fact that the freehold is available is also unusual since freehold shops rarely become available within the central area, and we are confident that a new tenant or buyer will be identified in the near future".
