The RICS has published its latest quarterly UK Commercial Property Market Survey (Q2 2020), headlined, ‘Retail office sector hit hardest by the pandemic’.

Richard Jones of the Peterborough office of Barker Storey Matthews (now part of Eddisons) is quoted in the latest survey - among other RICS chartered surveyors in East Anglia.

Offering additional comment on the survey’s figures on its publication, he said, “There has been a surge of take-up in industrial property of under 3,000 sq ft since lockdown lifted, leading to stock issues.

“This reflects the structural change from retail to warehousing that was occurring pre-March but this change has gained pace in recent quarters, with the prevailing shift reflecting the move from the high street to online shopping.”
