The RICS has just published its latest quarterly UK Commercial Property Market Survey (Q3 2019), headlined, ‘Demand growth confined to the industrial sector’

 Offering expert comment within the latest survey, among other RICS chartered surveyors in the East Anglia, are Tony Barker and Alan Matthews who, respectively, are based in the Peterborough and Huntingdon and offices of Barker Storey Matthews - now part of Eddisons. 

Tony Barker commented, “A repeat of the previous quarter (Q2 2019), with strong performance in the industrial/warehouse sector and with good levels of demand putting upward pressure on both rents and capital values.” 

Alan Matthews added, “There has been good demand in the industrial sector until the start of the summer, when the market slowed and hasn’t really got going properly yet.  Notwithstanding this, industrial is the most buoyant sector and we expect it to grow in the medium to longer term. 

”Offices in locations away from regional - like Cambridge - remain a challenge and current values do not support new development.  Values have to rise for replacement stock to come forward.”
